The NLRC hosts a full boxing gym, complete with a state of the art boxing ring, heavy bags, and other training equipment. Certified trainers are on hand to ensure the safety of the participants. Participants must register and pay a fee, and be willing to participate in city-wide boxing events. The program is open to children age 9 1/2 and above, and adults. Center Director Mary Kerr serves as a member of the City-Wide Boxing Committee for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. On occasion, film and photography crews have "borrowed" the gym as a setting for their productions.
