Jannette Hofstede is a fibre artist living in Peterborough, Ontario in Canada. She spins her own fibres from the raw wool of sheep, llamas, and rabbits, as well as from plants such as hemp. She is also dyeing her own fibres before turning them into well-crafted clothing, such as shawls, sweaters, hats, and socks. Jannette tries to select fibres from animals she knows are well treated, and if possible she personally visits the farms where the animals live before she purchases the fibre. Jannette puts an emphasis on using fibres that are organic, recycled, or vegan. Jannette has travelled around Ontario on speaking engagements about history and techniques of fibre arts.
